Mamta, 16 years
Mamta, a young teenager from Hissar, broke all social barriers to start playing football. in a state where girls eduction is frowned upon, playing football is indeed a very big deal!! her coach Mr. Vinod Singh and her father encouraged her and she started playing for India, under 19 team. Unfortunately, an untimely injury on the field put an end to her dreams!!! She sustained a ligament injury and required a surgery to start playing again. Her father, a daily wages worker, could not afford to fund her surgery. We ran a fundraising campaign for her and on the 23rd of July 2018 she underwent and ACL reconstruction surgery. Now almost 4 months after her surgery Mamta is getting looking forward to return to the field and play for the country.
28th of March 2019: Today, 9 months after Mamta’s ACL reconstruction surgery- she is back on the field. Playing, running, jumping- getting ready to win laurels for our country!!! Lets give her a big cheer!!!!!
