Threessiamma was close to 60 years old when her husband suddenly passed away from liver failure. He had been diagnosed just four months prior. This left her in charge of the household income and the sole responsibility to pay the bills and take care of the children. With a damaged left hip from a childhood injury, she was primarily housebound and unable to go out looking for work or working.
